This is an outstanding book for the whisky lover. Primarily touching on Scotch Whiskies, the book also discusses Irish, Rye, Bourbon, Tennessee, Asian, and boutique brands.
The whiskies are arranged alphabetically with gorgeous pictures of the bottles of each whisky a several paragraph to full page description of the distillery from which the whisky originates (primarily for single malts). There are also short but concise and well written tasting notes for each whisky including information such as alcohol by volume.
Most every single brand, blend, or single malt I could think of is represented with only a few omissions, most certainly due to certain blends that may have been released only very recently.
There are also full color articles in the book expanding on topics of interest to the whisky lover from cask making to glass selection, peat harvesting, and more.
This is a wonderful book. It is a well written and beautiful book on whisky. The pages are all full color glossy on heavy bond paper. This hardbound is a definite addition for your home library or private bar.

This book is a thorough, though sometimes dry (insert your own pun here), account of how orange juice came to be a product marketed as quite pure but in many senses actually anything but.
It makes for an interesting case study of one corner of our incredibly industrialized food system. The author seems quite fascinated by the regulatory hearings which led especially to the current state of affairs with respect to "not-for-concentrated" orange juice; the reader feels distinctly less fascinated than the author.
One thing of interest is precisely the lack of conclusions drawn. Yes, we conclude, orange juice is quite unlike the orange in the advertisements with the straw sticking straight out of it. And, yes, the way it came to be what it is today came from complex chemical, industrial, and legal processes. But there's also not any particular reason to think that these processes are dangerous or unhealthful -- just dishonest. So what, if anything, is to be done? The author deliberately refuses to answer.

Dadurch bekommt der Leser einen interessanten Einblick in den menschlichen Körper. Wer sich dafür weniger begeistern kann, hat auch die Möglichkeit, einfach ein paar Zeilen zu überspringen. Doch mit den Abläufen wird dem Leser erst deutlich, warum der Autor welches Fazit am Ende der einzelnen Punkte zieht, die er vorstellt.
Fazit:
Das Buch vermittelt und erklärt viele grundlegende, aber auch neue Ernährungsfragen. Hierin findet man einen guten Überblick über gesunde Ernährung und auch die Hintergründe der bekannten Thesen von Ernährungsforschern. Da sich jeder mit gesunder Ernährung auseinander setzen sollte und dieses Buch sich sehr gut dazu eignet, da es auch kontroverse Meinungen vorstellt, sollte jeder es gelesen haben.
